The Richmar TheraTouch LX2 is a Class IIIb cold laser therapy device designed to simplify photobiomodulation and low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in physical therapy, rehabilitation, sports medicine, athletic training, chiropractic, and other clinical environments. Combining evidence-based clinical protocols with an intuitive full-color touchscreen, the TheraTouch LX2 helps clinicians efficiently set up treatments for common acute and chronic conditions.
Capable of delivering up to 35 J/cm² in a single treatment, the LX2 provides flexible treatment options for applications including tissue healing, inflammation, and pain. The system comes standard with a powerful 9 Diode Cluster Applicator combining 650 nm LED and 850 nm infrared laser wavelengths. An optional 850 nm Single Diode Applicator can also be added for more focused treatment applications.
The Richmar TheraTouch LX2 also features a built-in dosage calculator, continuous and pulsed output modes, two output channels, predefined clinical protocols, and storage for up to 100 user-defined protocols.
Evidence-Based Laser Therapy Made Simple
The TheraTouch LX2 was developed to make professional laser therapy easier to integrate into clinical treatment programs without sacrificing flexibility. Its combination of evidence-based protocols and guided treatment setup makes the system approachable for clinicians introducing laser therapy into their practice, while adjustable treatment parameters provide experienced users with greater control over treatment delivery.
Evidence-based clinical protocols help populate treatment parameters for the selected indication, including a dedicated Tissue Healing protocol. The menu-driven touchscreen guides clinicians through treatment setup in a straightforward and logical sequence, helping simplify operation in busy clinical environments.

- Total power: 1040 mW
- Richmar part number: DQLLLT-CA
- Included standard with the TheraTouch LX2
The combination of multiple diodes and wavelengths provides clinicians with a versatile applicator for delivering therapeutic laser treatments across a broader treatment area.
A replacement Richmar TheraTouch LX2 9 Diode Cluster Applicator is also available separately for existing LX2 systems that need a replacement applicator.
Photobiomodulation for Tissue Healing
Photobiomodulation uses light energy to influence biological processes within tissue. During laser therapy, light energy is absorbed by cellular chromophores, including cytochrome c oxidase within the mitochondria, helping influence cellular activity associated with tissue repair and healing.
According to Richmar, this interaction can affect important cellular molecules including adenosine triphosphate (ATP), reactive oxygen species (ROS), and nitric oxide (NO). These processes are associated with cellular energy production, circulation, inflammation, and tissue repair.
Richmar identifies physiologic effects of photobiomodulation throughout multiple stages of tissue healing:
- Inflammatory Phase: Provides a nonpharmacologic anti-inflammatory and analgesic therapeutic modality that can help inhibit the inflammatory response.
- Proliferative Phase: Supports tissue healing through increased fibroblastic activity associated with collagen synthesis and deposition.
- Maturation Phase: May contribute to a shortened healing timeframe, with treated tissues demonstrating greater tensile strength.
This makes the TheraTouch LX2 a versatile therapeutic laser system for rehabilitation professionals incorporating photobiomodulation into treatment programs focused on tissue healing, inflammation, and pain.
Intuitive Full-Color Touchscreen
The TheraTouch LX2 features a full-color, menu-driven touchscreen designed to simplify clinical treatment setup. The interface guides users through the treatment process in a logical sequence, making the system easy to learn and efficient to operate in busy rehabilitation environments.
Clinicians can use predefined clinical protocols for streamlined treatment setup while also creating and saving customized protocols for frequently used treatment settings. Up to 100 user-defined protocols can be stored within the system.
Built-In Laser Dosage Calculator
A built-in dosage calculator helps clinicians monitor treatment output without manually calculating each dosage measurement. The TheraTouch LX2 can display dosing information in multiple formats, including:
- Joules
- J/cm²
- J/diode
Dosage measurements can be displayed individually or simultaneously, with calculations updating in real time as treatment output is adjusted.
